This is a hybrid program, which means that the majority of the program is taken at the campus and several courses within the program (less than 50% of the program) are taken online. The program’s blend of on-campus and online courses allows students to experience all the support and services our school has to offer as well the flexibility and convenience of online classes.*

LPNs & LVNs ADVANCING YOUR CAREER

There are many good reasons for licensed practical and vocational nurses to return to school to become RNs.

  • RNs usually earn higher pay than LPNs/LVNs
  • RNs can have more career options and can enter positions in healthcare settings that may not hire LPNs/LVNs
  • Associate Degree licensedRNs also usually have more options for professional advancement. In recent years there have been fewer hospitals hiring LPN/LVNs, and this trend is expected to continue

Teshieka C, Associate Degree in Nursing

I chose Fortis for a number of reasons to get my Associates Degree.  The first reason was that it was local.  In addition to that, there were staff members here that really cared when I came to orientation. There were people here who made me feel like I want to be invested in your education and I want to see you grow and that for me pushed me to say that’s the place I need to be.

Mark L, Associate Degree in Nursing

My career choice at Fortis has really helped my personal life by giving me the degree that I wanted to have to work in a field that I wanted.  So it’s not so much that I’m going to a job, I’m going to something I want to do and I enjoy doing. My family’s proud of my achievements since graduation.  My wife works for the VA and that’s where I want to ultimately end up myself as a veteran; so taking care of that population, working with that population of citizens is where I really feel is going to be my home.

Denise S, Associate Degree in Nursing

Right now I work as a nurse and a case manager for Superior Home Care and Hospice.  Going to school at Fortis worked out very well for me.  I did the morning classes.  I also worked full-time.  I was struggling as a CNA making $13 an hour for 40 hours a week which wasn’t enough to get by.  Graduating as a nurse and working for a home health agency has really made a huge difference.  Financially, it’s made a huge difference in my life.
