Before I came to school for nursing I was actually working as a medical assistant for one of the local university hospitals and I had been doing that for probably eight years and thought that I could do more with a degree in nursing and so I just decided that’s where I needed to go next.

I’m a nurse for the whole prison.  So we work with inmates from maximum security to minimum security – male, female – we have inmates with diabetes, we have inmates with cancer, I mean we go from the flu to cancer to pretty much anything that could ail anybody on the outside as well.

So I chose Fortis because it was a fast-paced school and I enjoyed it.  I felt that I got into what I wanted to do sooner and quicker. 

It’s not always easy, but when you really put in the work and you really try hard and put in that value and effort you’re going to get the success that you want.
